CCOP Book Project Best Practices on Mine Rehabilitation and Decommissioning - Regional Meeting on the Production of CCOP Coffee Table Book


The CCOP Technical Secretariat, together with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), DENR, Philippines organized a Regional Meeting on the Production of CCOP Coffee Table Book on the “Best practices on mine rehabilitation and decommissioning” on 22-25 June 2015 in the Philippines, with attendance by 19 national coordinators from CCOP Member Countries and CCOP Technical Secretariat. Part of this meeting is a three-day fieldwork/site visit in Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation and Coral Bay Nickel Corporation in Bataraza, Palawan on 23-25 June 2015.

This book project aims to provide a material or platform showcasing different mine rehabilitation success stories throughout East and Southeast Asia. It aims to promote responsible mining. It intends to reach out private (e.g. nongovernmental organizations) and public sector especially the policy-making body to provide them relevant information for policy making and decision as far as mining is concerned.

This meeting kicked off this book project, providing a forum for presentations of best success stories and best practices. After the country report presentation, discussions on the outline of the book chapters was also accomplished.
