CCOP – Siam Cement Group (SCG) Meeting


On Wednesday 26 June 2019., Dr Young Joo Lee, Director of CCOP TS, along with Dr Dhiti Tulyatid, Regional Expert officially visited the Headquarters of the Siam Cement Group company to have a meeting and discuss on possible collaboration among SCG, CCOP and KIGAM on CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) methodology and technologies for cement and paper industry.

SCG representatives who attend the meeting include Mr Phunnawat Choydiros (Sustainable Development Director, SCG Cement & Construction Solution Business, SCG Cement Co., Ltd.); Mr Chanwut Limpichai (Senior Specialist, Center of Expertise, Total Integrated Solution and Services); Mr Numpol Limprasert (Sustainable Development Director, the Siam Cement PLC.); Mr Somwung Sintumongkolchai (Climate Change Director, Cement and Construction Solution Business, SCG Cement Co., Ltd.); Dr Krienkrai Suksankraisorn (Renewable Energy & Technology Solution Manager, SCG Cement Co. Ltd.); Dr Narissara Bussayajarn (Technology Analyst Manager, Innovation Scouting and Sourcing, SCG Chemicals Co., Ltd); and Mr Arinchaitas Suwanwatin (Manager International Market, Energy Division, SCG International Corporation Co., Ltd.).

Dr Young Joo Lee introduced CCOP and KIGAM, as well as stated his intention to get to know and meet key persons of SCG who will further collaborate on CCUS methodology among SCG – CCOP – KIGAM in terms of cement and paper industry.

The meeting agreed that:

  1. Both parties express their interests in working together on the CCUS methodology and other related technology for the cement and paper industries;
  2. SCG has assigned Mr Chanwut Limpichai to be the contact person on this program for SCG. SCG also internally appointed their focal points on each topic, i.e., cement, paper and chemical. Dr Young Joo Lee and Dr Dhiti Tulyatid are contact persons of CCOP; Mr Do Soon Kim for the Korean-Thai Chamber of Commerce; and Mr Daniel Son for LG International Thailand.
  3. The proposed time frame: By the end of July 2019, CCOP will send more information on KIGAM’s related technology and methodology, etc., to SCG. It is also proposed that there will be a technical workshop on technology sharing among CCOP-SCG-KIGAM, either in Korea or Thailand, no later than September 2019.
