CCOPTS New Director, Dr. Young Joo Lee

It has been over a month that Dr. Young Joo Lee, formerly from Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM), assumed office as the Director of the CCOP Technical Secretariat (CCOPTS). April 2019, his first month has been hectic with several activities and mission trips aside from CCOPTS staff meetings.

1 April 2019.  His first day as CCOPTS Director.

2 April 2019.  Official visit of CCOP Advisory Group Chairman, Ioannis Abatzis, to CCOPTS Director

3 April 2019.  Courtesy visit to Dr Sommai Techawan, Permanent Representative of Thailand to CCOP, and Director-General of the Department of Mineral Resources, Thailand

5 April 2019.  Kick-off meeting of the JICA-funded Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) Project for Thailand, Bangkok

9-10 April 2019.  Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between CCOP and Young Earth Scientists (YES) Network, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

12-16 April 2019.  Thailand New Year (Songkran)

21-26 April 2019.  UnCon13, Hanoi, Vietnam

22 April 2019.  Courtesy Visit at the General Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam (GDGMV), Hanoi

24 April 2019.  Courtesy Visits at Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources (VIGMR) and Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI), Hanoi

30 April 2019.  Meeting with the Chairperson of the Thai-Korean Chamber of Commerce

On top of mission trips and developing new projects, from the month of May he will be making courtesy visits at Member and Cooperating Countries embassies in Bangkok.  He did his first embassy courtesy visit on 3 May, meeting the Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Embassy in Bangkok, His Excellency Mr. Lee Wook-Heoun.

His first five weeks as CCOPTS Director reflected his life's motto, "吉祥因緣 to meet nice people, good things, and keep best relationships".  To Dr. Young Joo Lee, CCOP has faith in you! With excitement, we look forward to the upcoming 35 months or more of your tenure as CCOPTS Director.
