![]() Dr Young Joo Lee, Director of CCOP Technical Secretariat, and Dr Dhiti Tulyatid, Regional Expert, participated in the 9th Liaison Officials Meeting of the China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum & Exhibition (CAMCF) held on 12 July 2019 at the Shangri-la Jakarta Hotel, Jakarta, Indonesia. CAMCF offered three special international training courses: 1. 7th China-ASEAN Mining Industry Talent Exchange Training Class (CAMCF Secretariat, 21 days); 2. the 2018 Geological Survey Information Technology Training Classes for Developing Countries (MFA & CGS); and finally 3. the Geological Disaster Prevention and Control Technology Training Class for the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor (organized by CGS). |

![]() Dr Young Joo Lee, Director of CCOP Technical Secretariat, together with Dr Dhiti Tulyatid, Regional Expert, had a courtesy visit to Mr Rudy Suhendar, Permanent Representative of Indonesia to CCOP, Head of the Geological Agency, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), at his office in Jakarta, Indonesia. Dr Rudy Suhendar and his staff, including:Dr Eko Budi Lelono (Head of Center for Geoligical Survey);Andiani (Head of Groundwater and Environmental Geology); Kasbani (Head of Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation); Iman Sinulingga (Head of Mineral Resources, Coal and Geothermal); Ratdomo Purbo (Secretary of Geological Agency); Dadan Kusnida (Head of R&D Agency); and Setyorini (Head of LEMIGAS); Moehamad Awaludin(Head of Mineral Exploration); and Dr. S.S Rita Susilawati (Head of Coal Division); welcomed Dr Young Joo Lee and Dr Dhiti Tulyatid. |
CCOP-KIGAM-DGR Workshop on Transboundary Aquifer Monitoring and Management in Mekong Basin -Efforts for Climate Resilient Groundwater Management and Restoration |
![]() The meeting was aware of the exchange of technology and experiences. It was suggested that a clear topic should be defined to working together, i.e., saline soil over Thailand & Lao. A training course was also encouraging. However, national coordinators need to be the same throughout the project. It is also encourage that participating countries share their groundwater data in order to have better understanding about the transboundary aquifer; then they could properly specify the areas of the transboundary aquifer. This must be carried out in small selected areas for the start (KIGAM cannot support a countrywide work). |
CCOP – Siam Cement Group (SCG) Meeting |
![]() Dr Young Joo Lee, Director of CCOP TS, along with Dr Dhiti Tulyatid, Regional Expert officially visited the Headquarters of the Siam Cement Group company to have a meeting and discuss on possible collaboration among SCG, CCOP and KIGAM on CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) methodology and technologies for cement and paper industry. The Director introduced CCOP and KIGAM, as well as stated his intention to get to know and meet key persons of SCG who will further collaborate on CCUS methodology among SCG-CCOP-KIGAM in terms of cement and paper industry. |
The International Workshop on Heritage Values of Ly Son – Sa Huynh Geopark |
![]() During 18 – 19 June 2019, Dr Dhiti Tulyatid, Regional Expert, CCOP Technical Secretariat Office; a Member of Thailand National Geopark Committee and a Field Evaluator for Thailand Naitonal Geopark, participated in the International Workshop on Heritage Values of Ly Son – Sa Huynh Aspiring Geopark, at the Central Hotel, Quang Ngai, Vietnam. The event is an opportunity to strengthen scientific evidence on geological and cultural heritage, to further supplement findings from scholars, researchers and policy-makers in a bid to finalize the application dossier to submit UNESCO by the end of 2019 for the recognition of a UNESCO global geopark, as well as to provide necessary information for the conservation, management and development of Ly Son - Sa Huynh Aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark, and to commemorate the 110th anniversary of unearthing Sa Huynh Culture. |
Official Visit to Department of Groundwater Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment |
![]() On Friday 14 June 2019, Dr Young Joo Lee, Director of CCOP TS, along with Dr Dhiti Tulyatid, Regional Expert, and Ms Marivic Pulvera Uzarraga, Manager: Project Operation and Information, officially visited the Department of Groundwater Resources (DGR), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand. Ms Jongjit Niranathmateekul, Director General of DGR, along with Dr Alin Chintraruck, Head of International Relations Unit, and other staff were there to welcome CCOP Director. Dr Lee expressed his gratitude to DGR for having support the work of CCOP for decades. Both sides agree on how important the groundwater has to human society. Dr Lee informed Ms Premrutai, DG of DGR, about his recent position as Director of CCOP TS. He also informed her about current CCOP’s projects that are related to groundwater. |

Attendance to the 75th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific |
![]() During May 27th – 31st,2019 Dr.Young Joo Lee, Director of CCOP TS and Dr.Dhiti Tulyatid, Regional Expert, represented CCOP TS and attended the 75th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) at the United Nations Building, Bangkok, Thailand. The seventy-fifth session of the Commission was held on May 27th – 31st, 2019 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok. The session was comprised of a ministerial segment, which was held on May 27th, and 28th, and a senior officials segment, from May 29th to 31st. In 2019, theme study was focused on the “Empowerment and Inclusion in Asia and the Pacific”. |
