Geoscience Reports and Information Dissemination Network (GRIDNet)

The  "Geoscience Report and Information Dissemination Network" (The CCOP GRID-NET Project) commenced in year 2001.  The aim of the project is to ensure that reports and other products from Cooperating Country and Organization's bilateral and "aid" funded research projects in (or relevant to) the CCOP region are disseminated to the appropriate scientific managers and scientists in relevant organizations in the CCOP Member Countries.

Not all CCOP Cooperating Countries Organizations are able to provide project funding directly to CCOP; many have aid and technical cooperation policies that favor bilateral projects in individual CCOP Member Countries or research projects based in one or more, but not all, CCOP Member Countries. Nevertheless, many of these projects produce results, in the form of reports and manuals, likely to contain information of value to a wide number of organizations within the CCOP region.

Usually one of the declared policies of the funding agencies of the above projects is that the project results should be disseminated as widely as possible.  However, commonly this policy is not actively pursued, not least because the project participants are keen to move on to a new activity on completion of their current project and, unless there is academic or scientific recognition to be gained, neglect the post-project dissemination activity.  Hence, CCOP has initiated the GRID-NET project to improve the above situation.
