Integrated Geological Assessment for Deltas in Southeast and East Asia (DelSEA Project)
(1 April 2004 – 31 March 2008)
The purpose of the project is to conduct cooperative geoscientific study/research of the major deltaic areas of East and Southeast Asia by Member Countries of CCOP as a part of the IGCP 475 'DeltaMAP" project, and to promote the sharing and dissemination of the study/research results in annual meetings of IGCP 475, the proceedings of which will be published in an international journal. The IGCP 475 Annual Meetings are hosted by the participating countries in the region and the 2nd Annual Meeting was recently held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on 9-16 January 2005. The IGCP 475 project is a 5 year programme which was started in 2003.
Eight representatives from the CCOP Member Countries were invited to participate in the International Conference on Deltas: “Geological Modeling and Management” in conjunction with the IGCP 475 DeltaMap Project’s 2nd Annual Meeting. A meeting with the CCOP Member Countries representatives was also separately held to discuss the strategies and the programme for the implementation of the CCOP DelSea Project.
In addition, training courses will be organized on specialized aspects related to the geoscientific study of the deltaic area based on requests from CCOP Member Countries.
Upcoming Activity!!!
The 2nd Meeting of DelSEA Project will be held in conjunction with the Third Annual Meeting of IGCP-475 (DeltaMAP) on 13-18 January 2006 in Brunei. For more information please the link: http://unit.aist.go.jp/igg/rg/cug-rg/ADP/ADP_E/a_1stannual_en.html
